Japanese fans go gaga over Prabhas in Saaho

Baahubali franchise’s historic success in several international territories had earned Prabhas a huge fan base across several countries. Especially, the love from the newfound fan clubs from Japan needs no introduction. All the Japanese fans are now going gaga over the Rebel Star in Saaho.

Saaho’s Japanese version released across some select theaters in Japan on Monday. The film is being screened with Telugu audio and Japanese subtitles. Crazy Japanese fans are hooting and whistling and are even throwing paper pieces just like Telugu fans whenever Prabhas appears on the screen. Despite all the euphoria, whether Saaho can match Baahubali’s success in Japan remains to be seen.

'Saaho' final worldwide collections: Prabhas' film becomes India's biggest earner of 2019

Sujeeth’s Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Saaho’ has become Indian cinema’s biggest earner in 2019 despite being declared ‘average’ at the box office.

The film has raked in Rs 232.6 Cr share worldwide in all languages, since its release on August 30. The film was a hit in Hindi but was a disappointment everywhere else, read reports. The film’s theatrical value stands at Rs 290 Cr with 80.2% of the film’s cost recovered. The total production budget if the film stood at Rs 350 Cr with its non-theatrical revenue standing at Rs 138 Cr, taking the total up to more than Rs 370 Cr.

‘Saaho’ seemed inspired by Jerome Salle’s French film ‘Largo Winch’, just like Trivikram’s Pawan Kalyan starrer ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ was. The film saw the story of a group of dons from the fictional city of Waaji, who vie for the throne after their head dies in an accident. Elsewhere, the police department investigate a bunch of robberies with the help of an undercover cop. How these two worlds collide and is anyone who they seem forms the crux of the story. In the film, Prabhas played the role of a mafia empire heir masquerading as an undercover cop, while Shraddha Kapoor played the role of a cop too. The film featured a huge cast list which includes names like Neil Nitin Mukesh, Evelyn Sharma, Mandira Bedi, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey and others.

Saaho All Formats Update - India And Overseas

Saaho is heading for an all India finish of 295 crore nett in all formats. It will fall short of the 300 crore nett though it can be among the top ten NETT grossers of all time in India if it can cross the 295 crore nett of Padmaavat. The 295 crore nett total of that film was also in all formats.


The Hindi version is by far the best as it will finish near the 150 crore nett while the domestic market of Nizam / Andhra will do around 112 crore nett (not including Hindi and Marathawada). The Overseas business of the film will close at around $11.50 million which will mean a final worldwide gross finish in the 415-420 crore range. This will be the 14th highest total ever worldwide for a film released on multiple formats. The all India business of Saaho till date is as follows.

Saaho hits the 150 crore mark in Hindi

Even with such mixed reviews, Saaho did supremely well in the Hindi belt. The film’s PR team have revealed that the film has hit the 150 crore net as of today in Hindi and is still playing in many theaters across the country.

These collections clearly reveal that Prabhas is a universal star and is being liked by everyone in the country. However, the collections in the Telugu states have fallen down completely.

Saaho is directed by Sujeeth and was produced by UV Creations. Shraddha Kapoor played the female lead in the film.

Saaho collects Rs 79 Cr in Telugu states in 2 weeks

Young Rebel Star Prabhas starrer Saaho has completed two weeks of its run at box office. Saaho’ has collected about Rs 79 Cr in AP and Telangana after completing second week and has now entered into deficit.

The film was released by the producers on an advance basis in AP and Telangana in almost all territories. So, there will not be any major losses to any distribution party. The production house will bear them. With additional revenue streams, UV Creations is now almost recovering the investment.

Saaho has turned out to be a hit for its Hindi producer as it raked in Rs 139 Cr nett (India) in 14 days.

The Tamil and Malayalam versions were declared as disasters in the first weekend itself.

Despite negative reviews and disappointing word-of-mouth, it is a surprise that the film managed to reach this far. 'Saaho' is directed by Sujeeth.
