Baahubali set a new benchmark at the U.S Box Office by becoming the first Telugu film to reach the 3 million mark. Baahubali later went to cross the $10 million. Srimanthudu, the second top grossing telugu film has failed to reach even the $3 million mark set by Baahubali in its 31 days run.
When compared to its fourth weekend collection, "Srimanthudu" witnessed around 75% drop in business at the USA box office in its fifth weekend. This deep plunge in its number was due to the huge reduction in its screen count. The movie held 24 screens in the fourth week, but the film was forced out of 18 cinema halls by "Bhale Bhale Magadivoi" and other new releases.
In its fifth weekend, "Srimanthudu" collected $7,538 from 6 cinema halls at the USA box office, taking its 31-total collection $2,882,809 (Rs 19.26 crore).
The Mahesh Babu starrer was expected to surpass the $3 million mark in the following weeks and become the second Telugu film to achieve this rare feat after "Baahubali - the Beginning". But with each passing week, this mark has become a distant dream for "Srimanthudu", as it has been hit by new releases.
As per its current trends, the movie will not cross this mark in its life time.
Every week, "Srimanthudu" has been withdrawn from 50% of cinema halls, which has resulted in the huge drop in its collections.
