Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan's Sultan was released on 6th July to positive response from critics as well as audience. Trade analysts predicted the movie to shatter many box office records, including first day collections.
The actor's latest Eid release, Sultan, has earned nearly Rs 36.54 Crore all India nett on its opening day, the biggest in 2016.
Sultan, however still failed to break the opening day record set by none other than Tollywood's pride, our darling Prabhas's Baahubali, which released exactly a year ago in 2015.
Baahubali's all India opening day (nett) was 42.16 Crore, including all the dubbing versions. Leave alone Baahubali, Sultan didn't even surpass Salman's last year's Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's day 1 nett of Rs 40.35 Crore and also missed Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year's 37 Crore by a whisker.
Sultan also failed to break another record set by Baahubali - The fastest 100 crore collection. While Baahubali crossed 100 crores in just two days, Sultan has made only 73.7 crores in two days making Baahubali the undisputed king of box office.
Salman though crowned the box office king of India, still couldn't manage to beat our darling's Baahubali.
