Just like the much celebrated 50 crore club in Tollywood's trade circles, Bollywood goes crazy about the 100 crore club. So far in 2015, no film has managed to enter the 100 crore club. In January, Akshay Kumar and Rana starrer Baby released to great reviews and stormed the box-office and ended up with a share of 95 crores.
Then came the Fast & Furious 7, the Hollywood's action spectacle that ruled the box-office and became the first film to enter the 100 crore club in 2015. The film was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, apart from the English version. Even Avengers: Age of Ultron did solid business and earned upto 73 crores.
And then came Krish's Tagore remake, Gabbar Is Back. The film is still running in the theatres across the country and so far, it has collected close to 80 crores but the slackened pace at the box-office indicates that it's impossible for the film to reach 100 crores. Here comes Baahubali into the picture. The film is releasing big in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi on 10th July.
Being made on a budget of nearly 150 crores, Baahubali is turning everyone's head and is sure to open big this summer, thanks to the heavy expectations. If the film manages to get thumping reviews, 100 crores in Telugu alone is a cakewalk and with Tamil and Hindi versions, the collections might even touch 150 plus crores.
With no notable releases until July and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan releasing only on the 16th July, looks like there is no stopping for Baahubali to become the first Indian film to enter the 100 crore club this year. If the magnum opus indeed makes this feat happen, it will be a proud moment for all Telugu film lovers.
